Tips for Displaying Your CA Number Decal Sticker (CHP) California Highway Patrol | Lettering Guide

Being a first-time trucker can be intimidating, especially if you are doing business in California.

After obtaining your USDOT number you must obtain your CA number from the California Highway Patrol. You will then be issued a unique number that must be placed on both sides of your commercial vehicle.

A few things to keep in mind is that your CA number must be at least 2 inches in height and must be visible from a distance of 50 feet. Your CA number must be placed on both sides and the color of the lettering must contrast with the color of the vehicle. If you have a black truck, use white lettering and vice versa.
